Our Children &
Youth Goju Ryu Karate-Doh Programme
Our
various training
programmes for children, youth
and young adult students are especially designed
to cater for their developmental needs yet creating enough challenges to enhance
their
self-esteem and confidence. The children do not
train in the same class as adults, as the demands that are placed
on the adults, are different from what is expected of
the youth. Their
muscles, skeletal system and bodies are still growing and
developing, therefore correct exercises and training must be
implemented to encourage and aid such development.
Good
Karate instruction can help you child develop :
-
Respect,
good manners and a willingness to help and get involved
-
Confidence
to engage in challenges yet understanding what is not good for ones health
-
A
strong and healthy body
-
A
calm, alert and ready to learn mind
-
A
never-giving up spirit enabling your child to face up to any challenge
-
Conflict
resolution skills
Karate
is about being safe, strong, healthy and peaceful, and more important,
about being and making new friends!

During the class, student
have to pay
attention to the instructor and follow the rules and
instructions. Respecting the instructor and other students,
children also learn the true value of respect for everyone, including themselves. This is a valuable asset to develop in one's character. The training is controlled, disciplined and challenging, but
rewarding,
enjoyable and fun. Sensei Buddy is in
the fortunate position of having started his Karate training at the age of 9 years old, and, has personal insight into
what stimulates and motivates the youth.
Although we encouraged
the children to participate in competitions and championships, we stress the important fact that winning is not all that matters
and that trying your utmost best is most important in anything
that we do. Each student progresses at his own ability and
therefore no comparison is made with other kids. The belt ranking
gives the student a sense of improvement and accomplishment and therefore increases confidence within himself to reach for
greater things in life. Our classes educate the student on the dangers of aggressive
behaviour and help redirect their aggression
into constructive and positive actions. We have a large junior contingent, many of whom are
training for a number of years.
